THE triangle offense of B-Meg is already fully understood and working while the rebuilding program of Barangay Ginebra is now underway.

Under this backdrop, the Llamados and the Kings continue their drive to the top when they collide at 5:30 pm Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Focal points of the match are Rico Maierhofer and rookie Allein Maliksi who were recently acquired by the Kings following a three-team trade.

With his trade to the Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings, Rico Maierhofer is expected to get the exposure to become one of the league’s best big men.

On Wednesday, the PBA approved a trade that sent B-MEG’s Maierhofer and Barako Bull’s Allein Maliksi to Ginebra. In return, Barako received Jimbo Aquino, a 2013 first round pick, and a 2012 second round pick from Ginebra, while B-MEG received Yancy de Ocampo and a 2012 second round pick from Barako.

If everything falls together, fans of Barangay Ginebra may finally see the frontcourt upgrade that they’ve been praying for.

The Gin Kings are in talks to acquire B-MEG’s Rico Maierhofer and Barako Bull’s Allein Maliksi, a pair of forwards who could inject a dose of athleticism to the frontcourt of the league’s crowd darlings.

According to a source close to the Ginebra camp, the team is planning to send Yancy de Ocampo to B-MEG and Jimbo Aquino to Barako Bull in the deal, even as other details are still up in the air.In an interview with InterAKTV last week, Ginebra coach Siot Tanquingcen hinted at possible trades for his team.

MANILA, Philippines — Barangay Ginebra, currently at the bottom half of the standings with an even 4-4 record, is looking at revamping its lineup through trades to put more zing in its PBA Philippine Cup campaign.

A source privy to negotiations confirmed that the Kings are talking to several teams for possible deals. No additional details were available.

The plan arose even after the Kings ended a two-game skid with a 92-79 win over newcomer Shopinas.com, last Saturday in Tubod, Lanao del Norte.

“Hopefully this week,” said the source, who requested not to be named as there’s no final deal yet on the trade talks.

OF all the defeats Shopinas.com suffered in the PBA Philippine Cup, the one against Barangay Ginebra, without a doubt, is the toughest to forget.

Ahead by five with 55.2 seconds left in regulation, the Clickers crumbled, and the Kings went on to steal it in overtime, 94-90, last Oct. 26. It was a lesson Shopinas.com learned the hard way.

But Ginebra found out, too, that a winless ball club should never, ever be underestimated. Saturday night, Ginebra faces Shopinas.com once more, bringing along an abundance of respect against a struggling team in a Phoenix Fuel PBA on Tour game in Tubod, Lanao del Norte.

With two straight losses, frustration has been mounting in the camp of the Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings.

The heat seems to have bubbled to the surface on Monday, when Ginebra superstar Mark Caguioa went on radio to express his feelings about the team’s direction.

“How can I help them when I’m sitting on the bench,” said Caguioa in an interview with Sports Radio 918. In Ginebra’s past two games against Meralco and Talk ‘N Text — both losses — Caguioa played just 12 and 19 minutes, respectively.

MANILA, Philippines - The Talk N Text Tropang Texters outclassed the Barangay Ginebra Kings, 86-71, to win their third straight game and remain within striking distance of league-leader Rain or Shine in the PBA standings.

The Texters started out strong, posting a 48-31 lead at the half thanks to Jason Castro and Ryan Reyes. Their lead ballooned to as much as 23 points in the 3rd period, 64-41, after a Kelly Williams triple.

The never-say-die Kings tried to mount one last comeback, going on a 7-0 run to get within 10 points, but the Texters doused their rally and pulled away with a 12-2 exchange in the middle of the final quarter.

Coming off their team building trip in Baguio over the past week, the Talk N’ Text Tropang Texters ran all over the Barangay Ginebra Kings on Sunday at the Big Dome, 86-71, to pick up their fifth win against a solitary loss.

Ryan Reyes, who exploded for 14 first half points, delivered the biggest blows as he came up with six straight points including a rare 4-point play with just over six minutes remaining in the game to push their lead back up to 16 after Barangay Ginebra came to within 10.
